The Importance of Fun & Challenge

Mini golf courses that are challenging, interesting and fun keep customers coming back and attract more customers through word of mouth. Although mini golf is not the same as regulation golf in miniature, Harris courses incorporate water, undulating and banked greens, rough turf, sand traps and other highlights that make regulation golf challenging and fun. This is one of the many explanations or why we are the leader for our nation in mini golf course construction and design.

The “Feel” of the Course

Buffers between shots like elevation changes in the landscape and streams are crucial design elements to forge the sentiment that players are in their own space. Changes to the elevation do not have to be extreme or expensive, and can often be achieved by making use of your site’s current features. Finally, Harris’ golf courses are planned to ensure maximum flow and avoid backups. With more than 50 years of designing golf courses, Harris’ engineers are experts at designing courses that meet all of these criteria and more.

The Case for 36 Holes

Lifesavers Mini Golf Games

With two 18-hole mini golf courses, it is the key to boost returning business and profitability for your facility. Not only do two golf courses produce more challenges and choices for golf lovers, they provide the space to welcome bigger crowds on weekends and summer evenings. Lengthy queues at overcrowded single courses will keep customers away and reduce profits. A second course will also mean the possibility to host groups without having to turn away walk-in customers – a key to midweek profitability. The Importance of Curb Appeal

The appearance of a course as seen from the road is fundamental to attract players in any area, but it is especially important in competitive tourist markets. Harris’ unique themes, picturesque holes, spectacular waterfalls, lush landscaping and other features will attract enthusiasts to your course and leave your competitors green with envy.

Choosing a Developer

Lifesavers

Misjudgement costs. We are always here to answer questions, contact us today! Selecting the right person to develop your mini golf course is crucial to your business’s long-term success. Some factors to consider are:

  • Creating a miniature golf course consists of knowledge in building and crafting. A contractor who knows how to pour concrete doesn’t necessarily mean that he can build a mini golf course. Building and designing miniature golf courses is all that we have been doing.
  • Experience means something. The more experiences in building courses, the better the results will be. Harris has built more than 800 courses worldwide over the past 50-plus years.
  • Discussing with our customers. Harris will be able to supply you with a list of mini golf course owners to discuss with and existing courses to check out. Our biggest source of new customers is referrals from existing customers.
  • Making sure that a developer has a team of designers who are not just general architects and/or engineers, but also experts at designing miniature golf courses. Harris’ seasoned in-house designers know how to work with our construction team to ensure the course meets all design specifications; how to design a course that is fun for the entire family, with the right mix of difficult and easy holes; how to add in deviating elevations to amplify curb appeal while meeting Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements; and how to make your course flow to avoid backups and cause delays.
  • In many ways, building miniature golf courses is a seasonal work. Many contractors won’t have their construction teams available during spring and early summer, which are the peak seasons for construction works. Another day without the construction team working on your project means delay in income. At Harris, we assign a team exclusively to you until your project is completed

What Our Owners Say?

'The people at Harris were efficient, effective and flexible. I was on site every day during construction and the guys were always asking me for my input. They would take what I suggested and make it happen. They were on time and on budget, which was an absolute delight! Best of all, I’ve made a ton of money in the miniature golf business.'

Site Selection

Harris has built successful courses on flat beachfront sites and wooded mountain sides. Whatever the contour of your property, Harris can design a profitable course for you. We generally recommend between 15,000 and 22,000 square feet for an 18-hole course with additional acreage for a clubhouse and parking, but we can accommodate a site as small as 9,000 square feet.

The Construction Process

However much you want to be involved in the construction process, Harris welcomes the input of our customers. During construction, if you see something you want changed, or our crew has suggestions on how to improve the design of your course, we are happy to make those changes at no additional cost to you. It’s all part of the Harris 110% Guarantee.
