It all changes again with three all-new, dedicated apps — Apple Music, Apple TV, and Apple Podcasts — each designed from the ground up to be the best way to enjoy entertainment on your Mac. ITunes 11.4 for OS X 10.6. ITunes 11.4 now supports the ability to sync your favorite music, movies, and more to devices with iOS 8.

iTunes is a free application for Mac and PC. It plays all your digital music and video. It syncs content to your iPod, iPhone, and Apple TV. And it's an entertainment superstore that stays open 24/7.

I’m an intermediate user, but I just finished reverting from iTunes 12.2.2 to 11.4 on OSX 10.10.4. At first it didn’t want to open so I looked at the iTunes Music Library.xml file. I noticed v12.2.2 was listed on the 8th line, so I changed it to 11.4. When iTunes started again it said it was importing from the XML file. RATING

'The worst software ever'

by: MikeP

iTunes 12.10.5.12

Pros:

NONE!!!

Cons:

Unable to use for ring tones and who knows what else. Total crap!

Other Thoughts:

Dump it and start over. Every time I get a new version of this piece of sh*% I have to start over to learn it. Now options have been deleted AGAIN and is user 'UNFRIENDLY'.

Pros:

Absolutely NONE!

Cons:

Horrible user interface redesign. Why is Apple copying Windows 8 graphics? What's with the minimalistic 2-D garbage and Fisher Price toy colors? I had to 'relearn' where everything is now. It's just like learning Windows 8 after using Windows 7 - same but topsy turvy. This iTunes is completely counter-intuitive. Absolutely idiotic idea!

Other Thoughts:

Maybe after 16 years of using Apple it's time for me to dump it and go with Linux. After Jobs' passing Apple has clearly lost its way. It's becoming what Microsoft was in the 2000's (Win Vista) meaning HUGE, inefficient, resource-hungry, and unreliable software.

Pros:

Is there any?

Cons:

Try to unselect all, program freezes (x64 bit) Impossible to create a playlist as you have to untick every item and then tick what you want. You cannot select albums Secretly auto starts itsself and quicktime, slows computer down massively Use a startup manager to deselect

Other Thoughts:

Desperately needs ability to tick/untick all or highlight.
Am using winamp to manage , do I really need to use ITunes to eject Ipod???????
The Ipod insists I do

Pros:

Works. Well, sort of!

Cons:

Almost free. If you don't count the DRM protections!

Other Thoughts:

Apple, why don't you stop trying to control what people do with their music?
Careful with this, or you can royally screw up your music selection. Apple makes sure to make iTunes the most complex software that does the least with the most user input possible.
If you want less aggravation & trouble, try philips or some other MP3 player. The only reason youd use iTunes is if you want to be 'popular'.
It certainly isn't easy, & it is almost free! Take away the DRM (usually on music you bought, anyway), take away the ease of screwing up your music because someone else decided to sync theirs to the same pc, etc, etc.
Nothing but trouble!
Get another mp3 player such a philips & use something like KM Player, or VLC instead.
Thank me when you find out how simple it is!
Apple = DRM = Not Good = Thumbs Down

Other Thoughts:

This software is so bloated it is unreal!
Hard to use, awkward, overrated, what else can you say. And WHY would anyone buy an Ipod? Get a Sansa, or any other you like, and plug it in and drop any files you want in it.

Other Thoughts:

Get a Philips MP3 & WMA player.
You will thank me later for it.
Philips will automatically install as an external drive, be immediately drag & droppable for your music, no need to create a playlist, just use safe to disconnect & you are ready to play
It doesn't rename your music like itunes does.
iTunes? Get real! It's a joke! You can burn music you bought up to 7 times? Really? Since when do they tell me what to do with what I bought?
Isn't the whole point in paying for something to own it? And if you don't own it, why don't they stop lying about selling it to you & stop falsely advertising that they are selling it to you & just tell the truth.
They are renting it to you. This is also breaking the truth in labeling act, & many others.
Besides all the bloat, slow downs, complex navigation systems & 'handy' music protection.
They really tout the ability to lock it only to you as a feature! What? What is the fun of music if you cannot listen with a friend or lover?
I am so sick of their lies. I truly will be glad when itunes just dies. Straight up dead, bing, bang, boom.
Just get a philips. Your wallet & your mind will thank me for the headaches you saved in $$$, simplicity, & it just works!

Other Thoughts:

Stay away from this app. Stay away from the iphone(imagine it works only with it). This application is the paramount example of bad design.

Other Thoughts:

Slow, HUGE!!!, cumbersome to use.
If they made an easy to sync ipod with NO NEED for this bloatware where you could actually USE more than 1 ipod (Multiple users share a pc), I MIGHT like this crapware.
As it stands right now, it is just an inconvenience, troublesome, time consuming.
When I want to play music, I just use an MP3 player. They are easy, drag & drop songs, NO NEED for complicated stuff like this.
I could care less if the ipod industry died, because there is absolutely not ONE good reason that MY music should ever be this hard to copy to or transfer from an ipod .
I am sick of music crapola's in charge trying to tell me what I will do or won't do with the music that I buy. Uhhh, if I am renting it, then KEEP IT!! I will not buy another song or support this rent-a-song deal. I buy to own, not to rent!!!

Other Thoughts:

This is suppose to be about the iTunes application, NOT the iTunes store.
The application itself is really quite good, but it does have a few problems:
* It loads too slowly (even on fast PCs).
* It uses too much memory.
* Does not automatically re-size columns when adding a song to the library.
* Videos won't play smoothly
* Can't add non-iTunes videos to library.
* The name 'iTunes' is outdated.
I agree that the store is a ripoff though. Not only is the price per song and music video to high, but the quality for both ain't that great.
