I’m encountering that when I start up apps, the beach ball (waiting icon) would appear and it would take easily 15-45 seconds (sometimes even longer) before the app would start up and run. Example of such apps, Main Stage 3.4, Microsoft Office Word/Excel (I’m using Office 365, so it should be version 2019). In short, any copy and paste leads Excel to appear to hang, with a constant spinning colored beach ball, and Activity Monitor and Command-Option-Esc showing Excel as 'not responding'. I found that if I left it long enough (in my case about 7 minutes) Excel would unhang, and letting this happen was part of the solution.
When you go camping, the little luxuries you’re able to bring along can mean the world. An air mattress, a generator, a waterproof tent (trust me, this is important) – these things can make ‘roughing it’ a little more tolerable. But for a tech addict, a link to the connected world can be difficult to bring along. Satellite dishes don’t exactly fit in a duffle bag.
Excel (and its open source clones) is probably the most commonly used software tool in the business world - ever! Pro's:. You can do almost anything with it that entails calculations, lists, planning, forecasting, querying data from external data.
That’s where GATR comes in. GATR creates inflatable satellite antenna solutions that are simple to transport. They’re lightweight, compact, and actually resemble blow-up beach balls. The dish is found inside the ball, not only to protect it from the elements, but to secure its parabolic shape. The air-pressure inside the orb helps divide the sphere in half.
Right now, the design is a little cumbersome and requires additional hardware to make it function. But GATR is developing a version (available this Fall) that will be far more portable. It will be 1.2 meters in diameter, will weigh less than 50 pounds, and will tuck away nicely in a backpack.
